As a part of her doctoral capstone, Jessica Brandon, an occupational therapy student at the University of Central Arkansas, created an Arkansas student study group for all students in their educational journey. This study group, Hand-in-Hand, seeks to unite all Arkansas students in occupational therapy programs and occupational therapy assistant programs by providing a support system and networking opportunity to students.
Jessica has a vision for a group that would increase understanding and confidence in hand therapy concepts for all students who may be interested in a career in this field, preparing for a clinical rotation, or simply needing to refresh knowledge of hand therapy content for the NBCOT exam. Hand-in-Hand reviews human anatomy of the upper extremity in relation to conditions most commonly addressed in hand therapy, various interventions for these conditions, and more. This group also hosts monthly meetings to promote understanding, confidence, and student interest in this area.
This doctoral capstone project is a continuation of work completed by Natalie Carden, OTD, OTR/L during her doctoral capstone, Hands Helping Hands, in 2022.

Congratulations to our 2022 graduates! We are proud of your accomplishments throughout your educational journey and wish you well as you tackle the NBCOT and begin your careers!
