About Us

What is Hand Therapy?

Hand therapy is the art and science of evaluating and treating injuries of the upper extremity including the hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder. Hand therapists utilize therapeutic interventions to help a person return to their highest level of functioning following injury.

Certified Hand Therapists

Who can be a CHT?

Occupational and Physical Therapists can achieve this advanced certification with a minimum of three years experience and 4,000 hours of treatment in hand and upper extremity rehabilitation. Once these requirements have been met, they can sit for the rigorous certification exam and upon passing are required to complete continued professional development and must recertify every five years.

Vision Statement

To cultivate learning in a supportive environment with opportunity for professional and career development for students and therapists alike.

Mission Statement

To empower therapists and students to utilize and maintain evidence-based practice while promoting research and advocacy within clinical practice.
